GNFNRs Film Thread

I watched Ready Player One last night

It was fun, i found myself too often getting frustrated with the lack of believably, not in the story but character decisions nobody would ever fucking do that

but that was my fault. I knew it. At a certain point I was like dude, Beetlejuice just randomly ran through a shot, calm the fuck down, it's like a date with bill cosby, it's for the best if you just go with it.

H should have been Leslie Jones, they fucked up there.

I don't understand why anyone would willingly pay for a movie ticket nowadays.

Just when you think Hollywood has hit rock bottom, these losers manage to be even more unimaginable.

Remakes of Aladin, Dumbo, another shit boxing film, the fucking Grinch...

Now people are talking about a remake of Pet Semetary which is bullshit. Fred Gwynne was awesome in the original and they'll probably fuck it all up.

I wish there was more to do around here but all we have is flatness, fast food, and cinema.

Gonna check out The Sisters Brothers sometime this weekend. You can't go wrong with a movie starring Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly.

I saw dozens of movies recently. Sunshine (2007) sticks out though. The ending is like nothing I've ever imagined.

Garden State. Chose randomly to have something in the background. Couldn't not follow it though. It was great.

I also saw this too. I thought it came out last year or something.

Overlord was pretty interesting.

First 3/4: A

Last 1/4: D or an A......depending if you like zombie movies or not.

I went in knowing it was a thriller with some sort of creatures involved. The Nazi's doing experiments and creating some sort of human hybrid fighting machines.

It's a slow burn - but a really great movie before the zombie action starts. You almost forget that there are going to be creatures. It really didn't even need them, to be honest. It could have stood totally on its own as an action/drama war movie.

I didn't really dig the zombie ending that much. The movie didn't need them.

But the people I went with loved the battle scenes with the creatures. And from the reviews I've read, people seem to love it as well. So maybe I'm in the minority.

If you like a movie with tons of action and zombies.....you will probably really enjoy this movie.

My Angelica level list of movies

Mr. Nobody 8/10. Way too long. Unconventional style.

eXistenZ 8/10 I don't remember this movie but apparently it existed in late 90s. I liked the story but it felt very 80s with the spec fx.

Children of Men 3/10 "Sci Fi" but actually just political. Definitely pre-Brexit

Equlibrium 5/10 Rip off 1984 but 1984 was also unoriginal.

2010 The Year We Make Contact 5/10 Not bad on its own but not as good as original

Primer 5/10 Pretentious level attention from the audience.

Upstream Colour 9/10 Interesting and incomprehensible story. Efficient transitions but jump cuts got to be annoying after a while.

Contact 7/10 Finally saw this one. The ending made up for the beginning. I was really surprised this was a big movie.

School of Rock 6/10 Some funny moments

Moon 8/10 Interesting Story

A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) 10/10 I missed it when it came out. Has it's critics but I thought it was a very good story.

The Good Life 8/10 Very depressing and uplifting story. Pretty good twists.

Cloud Atlas 4/10 See Mr. Nobody instead.

Sunshine 10/10
28 Days Later 9/10 Great for a low budget movie. Danny Boyle

This is the Best Place 6/10 Youth by the same director is 3x better.

Strange Days 5/10 Very late 80s feel for an mid 90s movie.

I only get movies from the library these days. I'd like to see Halloween but I'm not paying $12.50.

@meatpuppet eXistenZ is one of my favorite movies. Jennifer Jason Leigh was killing it during this period. She ranks very high for me as does David Cronenberg

Pokémon has a lot of staying power. First encountered them around 2000 from my neighbors. Looks like a fun movie.

Videodrome is probably my favorite of his. I haven't seen The Brood yet but that will probably be next. I haven't seen JJL in many other movies from this time but probably should.

Georgia is a good place to start with JJL

The Grinch.

7/10. Dr. Seuss' classic remains a great, simple story. The animation was wonderful and The Grinch was a pretty funny asshole in the beginning of the movie.

Better than I thought it would be for sure.

After seeing that all the funny parts of the Minion's movie were exploited into the trailer, I distrust Illumination films.

Woman of the Year - haven't seen it yet.

The Big Sleep - haven't seen it yet.

Pride and Prejudice + Zombies - First 10 minutes look alright, don't have time for it though.

The Signal - It would be nice to live out west.

It's 2018.

This isn't the golden age of cinema anymore. We can't expect much nowadays.

Tomb Raider II: Cradle of Life. I forgot how big of deal she was back then. I finally saw Tomb Raider I and my jaw dropped at how unreal she looked.

I don't have time to watch movies anymore but this will be next.

I went to the IMAX this evening and watched Free Solo. It's a documentary about a guy who climbs Yosemite's El Capitan without a rope. If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. This is the best documentary of its kind I've seen since Man on Wire.
