I actually don't mind having to watch this in shifts.

I watched the first 75 minuites on Wednesday night, and spent Thursday watching Football and some other stuff.

Taking a break really worked for me, because mentally, I keep coming back to the movie. Jimmy Hoffa, Kennedy, and the main character's daughter Peggy.

I'm eager to dig back in (hopefully) tonight and see how things play out. It's really sticking with me.

I thought it was pretty damn good. The de-aging was hilarious. DeNiro hitting and kicking was hilarious but trying to watch him walk was also quite funny.

But then he went downhill.

The bizarre thing about Dirty Grandpa is that there was a film called "Bad Grandpa" several years prior.  All geniuses at the studio and not a single one of them thought "hey maybe we should find a different name".  Retards.

I watched it right through, it was exhausting however like you said it stuck with me. I'm still thinking about it says later.

I think it's a powerful statement. GF and casino had a swag  about them and showed the cost in the end but it felt superficial. Being older and more mature and wise I thought he really hit on these points hard. Regret, mortality, loyalty. The cost felt more tangible and had weight to it.

I think this is the last time we will see the whole gang together and it felt like the perfect eulogy for his earlier work in this genre. It's a heavy heavy film and I don't understand how anyone thought it was boring. 20 years from now I feel like this will be held in high regard amongst his best films. Maybe not as high as Bull or taxi driver but definitely as a contemporary piece that stuck the landing. Masterpiece imo

The movie was boring as fuck.

The only thing I liked was the umbertos scene. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the world.

Seriously it’s a must if your in nyc.

They are 2 really different films, but yeah, Casino is better

Agreed. If you wanna do a Scorsese gangster trilogy, it's Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Casino.

Took me four tries to get through.....yawwwwwwwwwnnn,

Look....the man made Goodfellas so he gets a lifetime pass but god this movie was boring as fuck.

I imagine it'll be considered "brilliant" by the mustache twirling hipsters that love whatever guys like David Lynch shit out, but anyone who is completely honest knows this is a bloated, boring, meandering, pointless mess.

Based on length of film, GNFNR reviews, De Niro in the 21st century, and lol de-aging, I'm gonna skip this one.

you should watch it

I think I have to watch it now. The IBO has made a formal request for my recommendation.

I watched it because of Scorsese. I will never not watch a Scorsese movie despite my belief that he's been in a tailspin for 2 decades, Silence being an exception.

Don't hate me, but I enjoy The Departed. Sure, it's bro-movie as fuck and it can't be called a "great" film, but it's fun. Also, I get instaboner for Leo, Jack, Alec Baldwin, Marky Mark, and Vega Formica.

I get it and I agree. It's a fun ride of a movie. Great cast. Baldwin is always great in those smaller roles. He had the look of a classic leading man but his strength is in supporting roles. Vera is a gem in anything she does. I've certainly knocked out a few watching her...

I know I recommend too many things 😬

but....

check out Infernal Affairs. That's the movie that Marty remade into The Departed. There are 2 sequels as well....😬😬
