Star Wars - The Rise of Shit

Recommended Posts

I still think Lucas has got to look at his creation and to see it ruined completely must hit him on some level.

The whole thing has been cheapened.

Yeah, so he made all his money, he made his movies, he doesn't fucking care.

I think as someone who invested a great deal of his life, time and money into SW he's probably pissed at what they did to HIS characters and the universe he created

I'm guessing several billion dollars makes the pain a little more bearable.

You'd be surprised. I'm not gonna into detail but I talk to a family who sold a business for over a billion dollars and watched as the business got utterly raped and driven into the ground. It's a very upsetting topic for them even 20+ years later and something they've tried their hardest to move on from, and as such don't like to think or talk about it. For people like that, a lot of their lives and their memories and their hearts are in the products they made. Seeing it's all being shit on - even with a billion dollar payout - there are some things that money can't erase. SW was very personal for George Lucas, something he cared about deeply. He's a very sensitive and introspective person. The only reason or at the very least one of the main reasons he sold in the first place was because of fan backlash and the utter hatred aimed at him after the prequels. It hurt him a lot.

Good to know you care about how sensitive ol' George is. Didn't realize you were so close, do you talk often?

If it meant that much to him he probably shouldn't have sold it then.

Cool. He still has enough money to buy several islands and live out his days in peace.

Miser trying to paint Lucas as a wronged Saint.

Laughing. My. Ass. Off.

George Lucas is a wronged saint and anyone who's ever trashed the prequels should be taking part in daily apology rituals to a Lucas shrine.

But not because Miser says so.

I don't feel BAD for the guy, but I definitely think they treated him and his work pretty shittily.

He was basically an Axl-level tyrant surrounded by yes men for most of his adult life, so he's probably all fucked up in the head too, but man, can you imagine how awesome it would be to shoot the shit with him about Star Wars for a few hours?

Tyrant? How? He just wanted to make his movies, and with all things considered he seems to be one of the most normal people in "Hollywood". He started off doing indie films and then Star Wars blew the fuck up, but he kept doing things his way and made fuck you money regardless. The worst thing he's ever done is probably the OT edits, but you can download flawless 4K transfers of SW and ROTJ (ESB coming soon) in their original forms so who cares? You not liking the prequels or his interpretation of Han Solo doesn't make Lucas a tyrant.

on a lighter note

Lucas is just as much to blame for the downfall of Star Wars as anyone; the special editions, where he literally raped his masterpieces, and ruined them was all him. The horrific prequels were all him. Disney had nothing to do with that shit.

Hopefully Axl will sell GNR to Disney

A guy in a Mickey Mouse costume singing lead vocals would probably be an improvement at this point.

Rogue One was the only good Star Wars movie Disney ever did including the Mandalorian in my opinion.

I really enjoyed Rogue One. It felt like a grittier Star Wars. The plot was easy and it fit in before a New Hope quite well.

The Mandalorian is trying to find the same tone as Rogue One but it seems forced. The interaction between the Storm Troopers on the bikes in the last episode was cringeworthy. It was like, hey we are punching a baby here, let's try and match the charm George Lucas had with some humorous dialogue but fail miserably at it.

Mandalorian has its moments but if I never saw another episode of it I wouldn't miss it. The main character is too average. My hands were on my face when he was going on with his 'Don't save me' BS in the eighth episode. Han Solo was too awesome. I think they are trying their best to match the intensity with this guy but it falls short.

March 31 Disney will release a 9 film box set of The Skywalker Sage in 4K Ultra HD.

These are the same versions of earlier films that are now on Disney+ and although it doesn't seem to include Rogue One or Solo or does say it contains 27 discs and a letter from Mark Hamill.

Only $249 😆

I agree with you on Rogue One being great. It managed to feature both the best space battle and the best Vader scene in a Star Wars movie and it did it in 2016. Even Lucas reached out to the director to tell him he loved it.

Mandalorian isn't really going for Rogue One vibes. It's going for that Xena: Warrior Princess / Stargate / early 90s shit-fi TV series feel where every episode is a self contained corny Flash Gordon-esque adventure. It's been by no means perfect and you can blame Taika Waititi (most overrated director in Hollywood ever since he did Thor Ragnarok) for the baby punching bullshit.

Rogue One bored the arse off me to be honest. I haven't even watched it in full, I just lose complete interest half way through.

The Vader scene was excellent though.

We all want more Exegol, oh yes.

It was such a gripping and interesting part of such an enthralling installment of the beloved Skywalker saga (cough cough) I just can't wait to find out more about it.

I'd prefer a movie about Gungans, seriously.
