Objectively speaking, what's in that vault?

all contents have been removed and are stored with brinks during the move.

It's a private self access vault system, we aren't part of the banking industry so not regulated by government, it's mainly for people who want discretion or convenience. I know it sounds like I would have sketchy clients but that's not true - if someone has a pound of cocaine or drug money, it's safer in their closet than in our vault. We are still subject to court orders - that is the only scenario in which I have to disclose a client account / hand over contents. This video shows how it works very well;

But who uses it, in my experience;

-people who want the convenience to come and go as they please

-Europeans afraid their country is going to go the way of Greece. I've had some fascinating experiences with these people. A lot of retirees who want a plan B. Put gold in the vault and head back to europe. I've had people fly into Halifax in the morning, meet with me all day, then fly back in the evening. Crazy.

-people who want to hold precious metals outside the banking system

-locals who have roommates / neighbours they don't trust

-people who want to keep cash not in a savings account (a bank wont let you store cash in their safe deposit box)

Short term;

-people who go on vacation or travel for work

-people having renovations done on their home

-people who are moving

oh and there was that one child pornographer, that was the one sketchy dude I had. That's actually a fun story - i'll tell it one day i'm not losing my fucking shit.

I started stacking some silver last year when it was super cheap. Still is super cheap, actually, but not for long.

Maybe one day I'll stick my PMs deep in your vault.

Out of interest can you disclose what European countries those people are coming from?

Belgium mostly.

I've had 2 clients return, one to close account, one to just check on their box.

Both times i was fairly confident their stuff was there, I knew I didnt take it out, but there was always that slim possibility they would come running out all "WTF!!" - i was relieved to see them walk out smiling.

for what it's worth, i'll bold the reasons I personally think are bullshit;

But who uses it, in my experience;

-people who want the convenience to come and go as they please

for the bold points, if the shit hits the fan, you're probably fucked regardless. Yes your country can fall apart and you could benefit by having valuables outside your region, but that is unlikely.

I just lost forty dollars at the casino.

Now I'm getting drunk and listening to If I Had a Million Dollars on my torn up, curb-side couch.

I once had a table held up by 9 parking cones.
