Rank bands' discographies and argue about it

Recommended Posts

Awesome.

I didn't realise Albert had released another album, I just ordered it.

I only have Joe's New Solid Black, which doesn't do all that much for me.

I have both Blue Coupe albums too, a bit disappointing considering the lineup.

I love Flat Out, great album.

Only recently I realised that Will Lee (from the CBS Orchestra) plays bass on "Cold Wind"...one of the standouts.

Gorgeous bass line.

Sabbath would be insanely difficult for me as I really only know my definitive #1 and #2 lol.

Best crack at it:

Heaven and Hell

Sabotage

Master of Reality

Dehumanizer

Volume 4

Headless Cross

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Mob Rules

The Devil You Know

Cross Purposes

Born Again

Black Sabbath

The Eternal Idol

Paranoid

Tyr

Seventh Star

13

Never Say Die

Technical Ectasy

The thing is for me 90% of my list is really interchangeable barring the last 4 albums and the first 2.

@bran

Definitely a lot different than mine but it's cool to see such a different ranking.

I'm not big on Dio Sabbath but Heaven and Hell seems to be near the top of a lot of people's lists

@Doctor Dom there's a third Blue Coupe album. It came out last year or the year before. I think it's called Eleven Eleven? Something like that.

It's basically the same as the other albums. The core for some good stuff is there but it just never kicks into gear.

I really don't dislike any of these albums. Some I've listened to a lot less but not because I didnt care for them.

I always try to recommend this band to everyone. They are criminally underrated.

I like almost all eras, but my fav is Ozzy. Dio is a VERY close call. Also throw in Live Evil, that's one of the hardest sounding live albums ever

Give Cross Purposes a chance.

Tony and Geezer, Bobby Rondinelli (a monster) on drums and err...Tony Martin.

But it's a pretty mean album, and I'm not much of a Tony Martin guy.

I remember being confused and bewildered when I bought Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi's Seventh Star album.

"This is fucking GAY" pretty much summed it up.

But I love the title track- a real grower that seems deceptively simple.

Heart Like A Wheel, Angry Heart and In Memory are all really strong tracks too.

Interesting....

I'd bump up Too Tough to Die a few spots and drop Brain Drain down. Maybe put Brain Drain at the bottom

I agree. I never liked prog but I've been bored so I listened to Jethro Tull's discography and I ended up liking it. Then I did Yes. I liked them too.

I figured since I like metal, Dream Theater would be the next logical band to dive into. I've always hated Portnoy's and Petrucci's dickness so I just never bothered with them.

But I made my way thru it. It was torture but I was determined to finish it. I struggled thru every album. I'd get to the next to last song and think, ok 1 more song to go. And then that last song would be 22 minutes long. Fuck me.

Fuck me, this post is as long winded as one of their songs.
