I, for one, would enjoy an extended ETWAT diagnosis on the state of affairs. Even if you just wanna list some of the dozen or so Hollywood efforts you've enjoyed since '99. Your opinion matters, my friend. Your Denzel Washington story post is still the greatest I've read on this board.5 likes

Doesn't matter, they got what they needed. I just feel sorry for their family since they shot themselves 6 weeks from now.4 likes

All right....but only cause I love the name Philip K. Dickhead so much. I'm trying to preface this with my list of movies that came out in 1999, but I can't find the post. I know I've ranted about it before. I believe movies "peaked" in the year 1999 with the most amazing shit coming out rapid fire in ONE year than we had seen since the 70s. You may not have liked all of it, but there was so much creativity and diversity (and I mean actual diversity, not what fucking faggot SJW diversity) of ideas and styles, it was like nothing we'd ever seen before. Another overrated movie: The Irishman. Come on, you know it wasn't that great.4 likes

All the movies were made in black and white, they’ve just been remaking them with better graphics for years. Patsy Kensit’s nipple in Lethal Weapon 2 is an important cinematic moment. Easy Riders and Raging Bulls kind of explains what happened. Lucas, Spielberg, Coppola all embody a different filmmaking ethos. Lucas won by taking film in the blockbuster CGI direction, Spielberg the real moviemaker lost in the long run. Coppola the artist went broke trying to make masterpieces and start a communal art studio. They thought Easy Rider would change everything but Star Wars relega3 likes

I was gonna make a long, long estrangedtwat on this one, but I'll keep it succinct. Other than about a dozen movies, everything Hollywood has released after the year 1999 has been complete and utter asswipe.3 likes

This weather is kicking me while I'm already down. A foot of snow in Oklahoma is insane. This state does not have the plows or the salt to deal with this. And to make it worse, it is 2°F outside. Now the power company is threatening black outs because 'they can't keep up with power demand'. Ridiculous, negligent and deadly. With the virus, historical shitty weather (The power went out for a week due to an ice storm in November), my work being sold, and raising a baby, it has been the hardest time of my life. One thing I liked about the Irishman is the Joey Gallo hit. First off, I'm actually related to Joey Gallo, second he's an interesting Mafioso and underrepresented in Mob movies. But what I liked most about it is that Scorsese kinda winked at the ending of the Sopranos. Joey is hit while having dinner with his family, and DeNiro says in his monologue: "You might wanna go to the bathroom first, it gives you a chance to make sure nobody followed you in, it also gives you a chance nobody's in the bathroom you have to worry about....'2 likes

Another fun fact: T1 was borne out of a literal fever dream Cameron had. He had this nightmare of a metal killing machine rising out of flames, woke up and had the idea for a film around that. Of course, he didn't have the budget for a movie with a fully metal robot killer, so Arnold. ANOTHER fun fact: OJ Simpson was his first choice to play the Terminator, but he changed his mind as he didn't think audiences could be sold on OJ as a cold blooded killer.2 likes

It is a shit film but, like T2 and Jurassic Park, the effects in Independence Day are another example of that time in the 1990s where CGI was just beginning to enter Hollywood but they were mixing it with animatronics and models and the blend worked well. I think Phantom Menace was the key film for the change over, between using CGI in a nuanced manner and the nonsense now. We are all suffering as a consequence of Phantom Menace basically. It heralded in the era of the blue screen.2 likes

Yeah that was all satisfying as shit, but it just felt so fucking corny. Like they had decided to go full MCU and literally end a Jurassic Park movie with the "hero" T-Rex and his raptor sidekick fighting the big supervillain dinosaur, complete with sad music when it looks like Rexy is about to get rekt. idk, it's awesome but it's shit.1 like

I just hate the people in the theater. I talk during movies at home (yes, shoot me) but when you go to a theater there's certain etiquette. Not much to it, just shut the fuck up. Don't look at your bright ass phone, especially don't answer it, asshole. Don't hum while you chew, don't crinkle your fucking M&Ms bag, don't bring your GODDAMN toddler to a movie about big scary anything. If you can afford movie tickets, you can also afford a babysitter, of you can't afford both, you don't get a night out. Don't have kids, dipshits. All these things have happened and remind me of my1 like
