What if all bands followed GNR's "no music" rule?

Imagine if you will a world where rock bands don't release new music, simply because "nothing is better than something."

I know some will tell you that bands with fewer albums are better, but let's try to imagine a world where that nonsense becomes a reality.
How would you feel if NO ONE ever wrote a new song, and the airwaves were only populated by songs recorded before 1992?

Probably try to discover more "new music" from the past

Really, the 60's and 70's were the best and richest decades when it comes to music, so it's not a big deal. There is plenty of stuff to dig into

Besides, how is this possible? People from time to time create something new, so it's inevitable to have some new goodies from the underground/less knoown bands

To be completely honest: i'm still discovering new things from the 60's and 70's week after week, day after day, but the same could be said to the 80's and 90's too (in a much smaller scale, of course). Yeah, good music exists in every decade, currently or whatever, but nothing comes close to the aforementioned  decades. it's not that i'm being close minded or anything

Depends. If we`re talking about U2 and Metallica as examples of washed-up bands, then I`m all for them to stop tossing out trash for good. P.S. this song is horrific, case in point.

Alternate timeline future where Canadian socialists take over the world and censor everything they deem unacceptable.

It would be a tyrannical, genderless, one-world government, where the airwaves would be commandeered as public property, and instead of music, they would be filled with talk.

So, you agree that nothing is better than something?

In that case, i'd say, release the nukes and be done with it

i'd rather kill myself than living in a dystopian world you described

Yes.

How about this little thing called "opinions"

if you don't like the newer stuff, don't listen to it.

Your logic is pretty weird

I have just done exactly that, expressed my opinion.

I think when certain bands/artists can`t produce anything of note they should call it quits.

In your opinion maybe. In mine, he has.

But you are the one who wants to force bands to call it quits, because you think their newer stuff is shit (while hundreds of millions disagree)

You are the one (along with approx 9-10 K people in the world) who thinks CD is a good album (while millions of GNR fans took it as a joke and turned their backs to the band rightfully)

See?

Your logic kills GNR

(let me be clear, i don't like U2, not the old stuff nor the new, U2 is a shit band no matter how we slice it, and i don't really consider Metallica a good band since 1993, but they had some good songs after the AJFA too.)

 I`m not " forcing" bands I don`t like to call it quits. I`m only voicing my opinion I think it would be better for them to retire instead of churning out subpar material ( surprisingly, many `tallica fans, for instance, agree ).

GNR fans think CD is a joke  ? good for them. I don`t see why I should concern myself with their opinions .

You should read more carefully before you hit "quote".

Because what you're suggesting (your line of thinking) pretty much kills the band you like and with that line of thinking, CD would never even existed

Hope it's clear now

I think i read pretty carefully most of the time

Imagine if other bands were as unproductive as GNR. The Beatles would have three albums and a 7 year Let It Be tour. The Doors would have one album.

Actually, The Doors with one album sounds good to me. Alright, I give you two, Morrison Hotel and LA Woman.

If The Beach Boys had Surfin Safari, Surfin U.S.A, Surfer Girl, and Little Deuce Couple and toured Little Deuce Coupe from 1963 to 1970.
