Buckethead question.

26 posts in this topic

So I was not very open minded back in the NuGnr era.

Slash to me is the true lead guitar in GNR.

Lately however I gave Bucketheads solo work a fair listen and shit it's pretty good !

how in the fuck did he come across so shitty on CD ?

Not trolling. I was wrong on Bucketheads talent. Why did it not translate to GNR ?

Right now I'm blaring whitewash good tune.

I've always been of the opinion that the guitars on CD are good for the most part, other than BBF atrocities.

IMO CD sucks because of Axl's songwriting, singing, and much complex layering.

Same here, althought it says a lot that the most catchiest riff on CD is the title track intro riff written by a drummer sounds like a nirvana b-side

Buckethead was the best thing in CD. Everything else is cringe

Fairly or unfairly, I always think of CD's lack of riffs as a petty Axl tantrum.

"Slash does riffs! I don't need Slash, so I don't need riffs!"

Well, i'm not an Axl apologist, but when the material was written, riffs in general was a thing of the past. Have you heard a good riff between 1999-2003?

I wasn't

(well, at least not in the "big league")

CD was a poor man's attempt of being NIN 2.0 ft . Elton John with a little Korn in there

God, do i sound like wasted and rovim?

Fantastic guitarist but someone really should have told him to chill in like, 2009 when he started putting out 40 albums a year.

His session contributions to CD are probably the highlights of the album. His solos on TWAT, ITW and even CD do a lot to make the songs more passable. The TWAT demo without the Buckethead solo is fucking pathetic. Not even a song.

As for his songwriting contributions, it doesn't seem to me that he was very involved. Sorry sounds like an outtake from Electric Tears, so I'm not surprised he has a writing credit on that. Shackler's is probably something he wrote before joining GNR that he gave to Axl. Scraped is an abomination.

It makes no sense at all, but the greatest guitar moments (aside from Bucket's TWAT solo) on Chinese Democracy come from Robin Finck

I really want Finck to put out a solo album or join a band that actually releases music with him on it. He's so good but releases music so rarely.

Finck is good in the studio

Live: thanks, but no thanks. Fucking terrible player

He's great live, just not at faithfully covering Slash solos.

Hi! I'm a guitar player. No.

As far as composing a solo? Yup, he can do some pretty good stuff. When it comes to him improvising...Jesus, God no.

Finck's style is more about chaos, noise and textures. He can shred, he can play the blues but it's not his style. He's perfect for NIN. Covering Slash? Not so much.
