Official Appetite for Democracy/Asia/Australia Tour Thread

Recommended Posts

Axl will write the songs.. Come on..

And I want DJ to touch as much as possible, he has that base melodic ideas and Axl has the quirky add'ons, much like with Slash.. Otherwise it becomes to weak or too weird, and thats what Chinese suffers from, along with production.. We need guitar driven songs, and Axl with the melodic vocals over the beat.. DJ fits with that and fits the GNR sound better, if you like chinese like some of the people here, you won't be into that, mostly because they are into the weirder stuff in general.. I mean, buckethead, bumblefoot.. lol..

An album in the style of Appetite For Destruction (fucking awesome album), after the rest of the Chinese Democracy Sessions have been released :awesome: , that way everybody's happy

I hope they play CD in full on the 23rd.

LOL, the bar will be selling lots of drinks that night if they do......lots of bathroom breaks as well....

They played every song but one at the Tokyo show in 2009. I don't recall any reports of mass bathroom breaks.

Nor could I give a fuck what the average soccer dad in the crowd wants to hear.

The shows were a success. Nu-Nu-GnR has established themselves as a reliable live attraction.

Next year, I'd like to see them take a chance and play some of the U.S. Festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella.

There was a proshot clip on Youtube today put up by the company who shot the 3D show. It's been taken down now.

It was horrible quality and out of sync, but Axl sounded pretty bad.

Did I say I was surprised? I'm just telling people who didn't get to hear it.

The songs was PC - he's sounded bad on that the last 2 years with a couple exceptions.

Given Axl's refusal to adhere to a schedule, I think such a thing would be a disaster.

A festival audience is not necessarily GNR diehards. And there will be people already with a bit of a chip on their shoulder that its not the original band. So compound those factors with making them wait, Axl takes the stage to a complete hostile crowd.

I would like to explore India: Axl Rose

Axl Rose, the lead vocalist of Guns n' Roses, who are all set to perform in Delhi on December 12, talks about what's in store for their fans in India.

On performing in India

I've always wanted to play in India. We've tried to make that happen but for whatever reasons it just didn't work out. We're all looking forward to coming there and performing for everyone." When asked if he plans to travel to places apart from the cities he's performing in, he replies, "That would be great! I'm sure the rest of the guys and crew will visit some other places. If I'm lucky I'll be able to. Mostly I focus on the shows but if I have time I'm excited to explore India."

On Indian spirituality

I'm interested in having a personal, first- hand understanding of spirituality and religion as well as politics and government in India," he says. We pointed out that his Wikipedia page says that he had a keen interest in past life regression. Seeing as India is regarded as a spiritual haven by many, was that something he was keen to explore? "I'm not sure that what I personally believe or not is really out there publicly," he replied. "Lots of people say and twist things and have done so over the years for their own purposes based on gossip, hearsay, unsubstantiated media nonsense and even outright lies, especially when money may be involved and/or if they're trying to make problems for others. I do like to explore and consider lots of different concepts, ideologies, belief systems, religions etc, and have an understanding of what others feel, think or believe, but in my opinion, ultimately what one "believes" is their own business."

India as a music destination

It does seem like bands or the touring/concert industry is really trying to make an effort to include India in their tours, more so now than in the past which I think is a good thing," he says about the recent trend, adding that he would be open to collaborations while he's in town. "With regard to collaborations with Indian artistes, I think there's always the possibility of collaborations anywhere with nearly anyone."

Guns N’ Roses Lands In Bangalore Ready To Meet Fans & Party

Guns N’ Roses is in India! And after 24 hours of non-stop travel you wouldn’t expect them to be so fired up but that’s exactly what they are! Brought to India by MOOZ Entertainment to play for an epic 180 minutes in Bangalore, Mumbai and Gurgaon, one by one the band filtered out of the Bangalore International airport this morning…and one by one each of them energetically shared their sincere excitement about being in India and their desire to start experiencing Indian culture and meeting the fans.

While Axl Rose is arriving later in the day, the rest of the band is here and planning on getting out into the city to try the local cuisine, jam around in a rickshaw, shop for spices and silks and visit temples. The final line-up for the GN’R Live India Tour consists of Axl Rose (legendary singer/songwriter), Dizzy Reed (keyboards), DJ Ashba (guitar), Tommy Stinson (bass), Richard Fortus (guitar), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitar), Chris Pitman (keyboards) and Frank Ferrer (drums).

Each member of Guns N’ Roses has their own plan of attack for India – from partying with the fans to embarking on an introspective spiritual journey – and they can’t wait to start their day in Bangalore. Here’s what a few of them had to say:

Richard Fortus (guitar) shared, “I’m most excited to visit the temples around India so I can’t wait to maximize my free time and experience the cultural gifts of this amazing country.”

DJ Ashba (guitar) came off the flight fresh and ready for anything it seemed! He said, “I look forward to meeting each n’ everyone in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi! I can’t wait to hang with the fans!!”

Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitar) is travelling with his wife, the lovely Jen who is a veterinarian back home in the U.S. Ron was in fine spirits, “Just landed in Bangalore! We’re here! FINALLY!! Been waiting a lifetime for this…! The history and culture, the people, and delicious food… All my friends who have gone to India have said it was life-changing – I look forward to experiencing this, and thank you for what is to come.”

Jen had this to say: “I have so many Indian friends back home in New Jersey and they always talk about how lovely India is…I’m feeling blessed to be here and finally see what they’ve been talking about. I can’t wait to go shopping for saris and scarves and just take in the beauty of this country. As a veterinarian I would love to have more time here to volunteer with the non-profit groups dedicated to helping animals but hopefully next time!”

Chris Pitman, who co-produced and played multiple instruments for Chinese Democracy, confessed that, “Ever since reading about how the The Beatles spent time in Rishikesh in February 1968 I’ve been interested in the spiritual aspect of India. And of course I’ve always been influenced by Indian music so I can’t wait to see some local acts! I love curries and we are lucky in Los Angeles to have really good Indian food…and now we finally get the chance to try the real deal here.”

Guns N’ Roses is set to play in Bangalore on December 7th, in Mumbai on the 9th and in Gurgaon on the 12th. For all the latest updates, band news, and concert info visit: www.facebook.com/GNRIndia or on Twitter @GNRIndia

Music Makers

Axl Rose, the lead vocalist of Guns N’ Roses, is famously moody. The stellar performer, who recently declined his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fameand insisted that no one could accept the award on his behalf, is prone to surly answers during interviews and walks off abruptly from concerts.

He also shares a contentious relationship with nearly all his former bandmates, especially former lead guitarist Slash. For good reason, G N’ R is christened “the most difficult band in the world”. So when the red-headed banshee, as he is often called, thunders on stage with his quixotic labour of love, Chinese Democracy, in the band’s maiden tour of India next week, diehard fans will wonder — will Rose throw another one of his legendary tantrums?

Rose’s reputation for being temperamental doesn’t bother the folks at Mooz Entertainment, the live entertainment company which is bringing the explosive American hard rock band to India. For the last few weeks, they have been exchanging three-hour long conversations and over 500 emails daily with G N’ R’s tour managers. As organisers, Mooz will do the entire bandobast — from accommodation to medical needs, security, local transport, production prerequisites and local transport. The number of retail outlets (over 80) for selling G N’ R concert tickets are the highest ever done for any concert in the country.

At the venues in Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bangalore, the grounds are being levelled to avoid injuries to fans. Mooz’s responsibilities also include pandering to artistic whims — be it a specific brand of mineral water or a 24/7 personal chef — and catering to the entourage of agents, technicians, stylists and bodyguards, reportedly numbering around 50. Rose, who, rumour has it, doesn’t come on stage before 9.30 pm has assured Mooz that he will be there at 6.45 pm. This is in keeping with the Supreme Court’s ruling that all loudspeakers need to be put off at 10 pm. For crowd management, Mooz has roped in a security agency “which can tell the difference between a rally and a concert”.

MUMBAI: Come December hard rock fans are bound to flock to either New Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore to watch the 90's iconic American hard rock band Guns N Roses (GnR) perform live in India for the very first time.

Event organizing company, Delhi based Mooz Entertainment is making sure that an incident similar to the aborted Metallica concert in 2011 does not happen again and fans get their 'paisa vasool'.

Labelled as the 'most dangerous band in the world' the current lineup will feature original and often mercurial frontman Axl Rose.He will be joined by keyboardists Dizzy Reed (who has played with the original line up) and Chris Pitman, bassist Tommy Stinson, rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer and lead guitarists Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and DJ Ashba.

The band, which was founded in California in 1985 has sold more than 100 million records including 'Appetite for Destruction' (sales 28 million), Use Your Illusions I & II' (combined sales of 35 million). The band, under Axl Rose has also created music history by producing the world's most expensive album- 'Chinese Democracy'- at an estimated cost of $ 14 million.

Speaking to Radioandmusic.com (RnM), Mooz Entertainment VP marketing Dilip Ramachandran said that GnR fans will be treated to a world class show. "In terms of all light, sound, stage and other requirements, we will be following the Guns N Roses International Tech rider . In effect what the audience will see and hear is exactly the same exacting international standard. The production value of the concerts and the quality of sound & light will be awesome," Ramachandaran said.

He said the concerts would be the biggest of its kind ever to be held in the country and every base was being covered to ensure it went without a hitch.

"Mooz is gearing up for an unbelievable turnout, possibly the highest turnout ever for a rock concert in India. Our conviction comes from the fact that GnR is one of the most iconic and legendary bands of our times. We are committed to the safety and well being of each and every concert attendee and that includes impeccable security detailing. We have contracted the top security agencies in all three cities and have detailed SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) on every aspect of crowd control, security and emergencies. Apart from top notch security agencies , Mooz doesn't compromise in terms of venue barricading and logistics . All venue crowd management is as per proven International norms," he said.

He said the company would also undertake a detailed Pan India media blitz prior to the event. The buildup would include extensive marketing & BTL (Below the Line) activation plan, which will ensure ample publicity to ensure the right amount of publicity.

"Our core philosophy is to enable and empower the Indian Fans to enjoy international acts that are relevant and current . We intend to get the biggest acts to India, nurture the domestic music scene and make it a habit for Fans to enjoy live entertainment .We want the Indian fans to command as much power as their counterparts in other countries and eventually make every artist think twice before giving India a miss," he added.
